Bangladesh is currently under slight financial pressure but there is no reason to be worried, said Planning Minister MA Mannan on Wednesday.
“The whole world is in turmoil for various reasons. We are economically healthy amid this situation. Don’t be afraid,” he said.
“We are not at the level we were before Covid. That's why you sometimes think that the pace of development has slowed down. We will soon be able to achieve this speed, let’s complete the tasks at hand. There's a lot more work to be done,” he said.
The minister was speaking as the chief guest at a seminar on development of Moulvibazar district at the hall room of Moulvibazar Rest Inn Hotel.
At the seminar, the speakers demanded the construction of Government Medical College, Agricultural University and an alternative bridge over the Manu River in Moulvibazar. Later, the Planning Minister assured them that their demands would be met.
“Work must be done carefully in the wetlands of the haor. If dams are built in haor, the movement of water is obstructed. The water flooded houses. The administration is regularly monitoring the protection of the environment in the haor area. We also lack awareness,” the minister said.
Presided over by Moulvibazar Deputy Commissioner Dr Urmi Bint Salam, the function was attended, among others, by Moulvibazar-3 MP Nesar Ahmed and reserved women MP Syeda Zohra Alauddin.
