The full bench of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) on Monday extended Chamber Judge’s decision which imposed status quo on the general secretary post of Bangladesh Film Artistes Association (BFAA) till further order following a dispute between two persons over the issue.
Headed by Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique, the bench came up with the decision on Monday following a leave to appeal petition filed by Nipun against a HC order.
On January 28, Zayed Khan was elected General Secretary of Bangladesh Film Artistes Association (BFAA). But, on February 5, Film Election Appeal Board Chairman Sohanur Rahman scrapped the result in respect of Zayed Khan and declared actress Nipun General Secretary of the association.
On February 7, following a writ petition filed by Zayed Khan, the High Court issued rule challenging legality of the Film Election Appeal Board decision which announced actress Nipun victorious. The HC also stayed the decision of the Film Election Appeal Board till disposal of the rule.
Aggrieved with the HC order, actress Nipun filed an appeal with the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court seeking legal redress.
