33 die of Covid-19, fresh cases 11,596 in 24hrs

A total of 33 people died from Covid-19 and at least 11,596 new infections were recorded in 24 hours till 8:00am on Thursday, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The current positivity rate is 25.86 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 14.55 percent.
The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 28,494 and the mortality rate stands at 1.55 percent. Meanwhile, the total number of cases rose to 18,35,776, added the release.
The press release said a total of 44,843 samples were tested across the country in the 24 hours. At least 5,955 patients have recovered from Covid-19 during the period.
The total number of recoveries now stands at 15,81,092 and the recovery rate at 86.13 percent, added the release.
It added that of the 33 deceased, 22 were male and 11 were female. Of them, one was between 21-30 years old, one was between 31-40, two were between 41-50, four between 51-60, and the rest are above 60 years old.
