36 die of Covid-19, fresh cases 8,359 in 24hrs

A total of 36 people died of Covid-19 and at least 8,359 new infections were recorded in 24 hours till 8:00am on Saturday, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The current positivity rate is 23.83 percent while the total positivity rate stood at 14.61 percent.
The press release added that the total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 28,560 and the mortality rate stands at 1.54 percent. Meanwhile, the total number of cases rose to 18,53,1887.
It added that a total of 35,074 samples were tested across the country in the 24 hours. Some 7,017 patients have recovered from Covid-19 during the period.
The total number of recoveries now stands at 15,94,391 and the recovery rate at 86.04 percent, added the release.
The news release added that of the 36 deceased, 21 were male and 15 were female. Of them, one was between 21-30 years old, two between 31-40, two between 41-50, six between 51-60 and 25 were above 60 years old.
