29 die of Covid-19, fresh cases 8,345 in 24hrs

At least 8,345 new infections were recorded and 29 people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8:00 am today, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The current positivity rate is 21.50 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 14.63 percent.
The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 28,589 and the mortality rate stands at 1.54 percent. Meanwhile, the total number of cases rose to 18,61,532, added the release.
A total of 38,821 samples were tested across the country in the 24 hours. At least 8,159 patients have recovered from Covid-19 during the period, it added.
The total number of recoveries now stands at 16,02,550 and the recovery rate at 86.09 percent, added the release.
The news release added that of the 29 deceased, 15 were male and 14 were female. Of them, one was between 31-40 years old, two between 41-50, five between 51-60 and 21 were above 60 years old.
