40 die of Covid-19, fresh cases 7,264 in 24 hours

A total of 40 people died of Covid-19 and at least 7,264 new infections were recorded in 24 hours till 8:00am Thursday, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The news release added the current positivity rate is 16.95 percent while the total positivity rate stood at 14.69 percent.

The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 28,744 and the mortality rate stands at 1.52 percent. Meanwhile, the total number of cases rose to 18,94,535, it added.

A total of 42,867 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours. At least 11,046 patients have recovered from Covid-19 during this period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 16,44,628 and the recovery rate at 86.81 percent, added the release.

Of the 41 deceased, 27 were males and 14 were females.

The press release added that of them, one was between 21-30 years old, six were between 41-50, six were between 51-60, 16 within 61-70, seven were between 71-80, three were between 81-90, and two were within 91-100 years old.
