15 die of Covid-19, fresh cases 3,929 in 24 hours

A total of 15 people died of Covid-19 and fresh cases 3,929 were recorded across Bangladesh in 24 hours on Wednesday morning, said a press of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).  

The new release added that with the latest statistics, the total death toll hits 28,887 and infections to 19,23,031 since the country had recorded the first Covid-19 infection on March 8, 2020, and death from the viral disease on March 18, 2020.

The day’s test positivity rate is 12.20 per cent. Of the deceased, 10 are male patients and the remaining five are female patients, said the press release.

The Directorate General of Health Services came up with the latest statistics on its daily Covid-19 press release.

A total of 32,209 samples have been tested during the reporting period across the country while Bangladesh had tested 1,30,96,452 samples as of February 16.

During the reporting period, a total of 12,757 patients were recovered from the infection. With this, a total of 17,16,066 people recovered from the viral disease.

Of the deceased, five died in Dhaka division, four in Chattogram, two in Khulna and one each died in Rajshahi, Barishal, Sylhet and Rangpur divisions.

The release said that a total of 13 patients died in government hospitals and two others died in non-government hospitals during the reporting period.
