8 die of Covid-19, fresh cases 799 in 24 hours

A total of eight people died from Covid-19 and at least 799 new infections were recorded 19 in 24 hours till 8:00 am Tuesday, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The news release added that the current positivity rate is 3.35 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 14.48 percent.
The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 29,045 and the mortality rate stands at 1.49 percent. Meanwhile, the total number of cases rose to 19,44,376, added the release.
A total of 23,817 samples were tested across the country in the 24 hours.
At least 7,460 patients have recovered from Covid-19 during the period. The total number of recoveries now stands at 18,22,125 and the recovery rate at 93.71 percent, added the release.
Of the eight deceased, five were male and three were female.
It added that, of them, one was under 10 years old, one between 21-30, one between 41-50 and five were above 60 years old.
