5 die of Covid-19, new cases 177 in 24 hours

A total of five people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8:00am Saturday, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 28,022 and the death rate stood at 1.77 percent.
At least 177 new infections were recorded during the period, taking the total number of people infected to 15,78,996, the news release.
The current positivity rate is 1.13 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 14.23 percent.
Some 15,632 samples were tested across the country and a total of 122 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.
The total number of recoveries now stands at 15,43,862 and the recovery rate at 97.77 percent.
The news release added that the five deceased were women. Of them, one was between 31-40 years old, one between 41-50, one between 51-60 and two were above 60 years old.
Mentionable, the first case of Covid-19 infection was detected in Bangladesh on March 8, 2020 while the first death occurred on March 18 in the same year.
