Covid-19 new cases 2,916 reported in 24hrs

A total of 2,916 new infections were recorded and four people died from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours till 8:00am Wednesday, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
With the infection, the current positivity rate is 11.68 percent while the total positivity rate stood at 13.63 percent.
Meanwhile, the total number of cases rose to 16,01,305, the press release added.
The news release added that the total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country stood at 28,111 and the mortality rate stood at 1.76 percent.
A total of 24,964 samples were tested across the country. At least 266 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.
The total number of recoveries now stands at 15,51,653 and the recovery rate at 96.90 percent.
Of the four deceased, two were male and two female, the news release added.
