18 die of Covid-19, fresh cases 16,033 in 24 hours

A total of 18 people died of Covid-19 and at least 16,033 new infections were recorded died in 24 hours till 8:00am on Tuesday, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The press release added that the current positivity rate is 32.40 percent while the total positivity rate stood at 14.05 percent.
The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 28,256 and the mortality rate stands at 1.65 percent. Meanwhile, the total number of cases rose to 17,15,997, the press release added.
It added that some 49,492 samples were tested across the country in the 24 hours. At least 1,095 patients have recovered from Covid-19 during the period.
The total number of recoveries now stands at 15,58,954 and the recovery rate at 90.85 percent, added the release.
The news release added that, of the 18 deceased, 12 were male and six female. Of them, one was under 10 years old, one was between 11-20, two were between 41-50 years old, five were between 51-60, four within 61-70, three were between 71-80, and two were within 91-100 years old.
