Govt to provide all kinds of support for protecting human rights: Anisul

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq on Monday said the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is very sincere about protecting human rights and it is ready to provide all kinds of support in this regard.
"...not only the National Human Rights Commission Bangladesh, the government would provide support to anyone who would work to protect human rights," he said.
The minister said this while holding discussion with a delegation of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Bangladesh led by its Chairman Dr Kamal Uddin Ahmed, at his office.
Emphasizing on protecting the rights of children and backward communities, Anisul Huq further said NHRC is yet to reach places where 80-85 percent of people live and it has to work on this.
"People in rural areas and grassroots are not aware of their rights yet. We have to make them aware and to make NHRC successful, this awareness building is a must," the law minister added. He also advised for carrying out promotional activities like seminar, symposium and essay writing competition at upazila level," he further said.
The law minister said there were conspiracies regarding BNP's December 10 (2022) rally in Dhaka, adding, "There would be many more conspiracies against the country marking the next national polls. Many dramas will be staged. National Human Rights Commission Bangladesh will have to unearth the real truth and propose action against the culprits."
NHRC Chairman Dr Kamal Uddin Ahmed narrated overall activities of the commission and informed the law minister about its future plan. He urged for the government's support in implementing all its plan.
NHRC full time member Md Selim Reza, Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division Secretary Md Moinul Kabir, Law and Justice Division Secretary Md Golam Sarwer, NHRC honorary members Md Aminul Islam, Kongjuri Chowdhury, Dr Takian Huque, Kawser Ahmed and Secretary Narayan Chandra Sarkar were present on the occasion, among others.
