No outdoor gathering in Cox’s Bazar on New Year's Eve

No outdoor events or gathering will be allowed in Cox’s Bazar on the New Year’s Eve as the law enforcement agencies have taken extra precaution to ensure the safety of tourists.
The tourist police have also taken several security measures to ensure the safety of tourists, confirmed Additional DIG of Tourist Police of Chattogram division Mohammad Moslemuddin.
The district administration has also formed a special monitoring cell to maintain law and order situation in the beach town.
However, hotels and resorts have arranged be various indoor events to welcome the new year.
Abul Kashem Sikder, general secretary of Cox's Bazar Hotel Motel Guest House Owners' Association, said that 70 to 80 per cent rooms have been booked so far this year on the occasion of New Year's Eve.
This time, the law enforcement agencies are on high alert after the recent rape incident in the heart of the tourist district.
