Humayun Rashid, an expatriate Bangladeshi from Bronx, New York, has been released from the stigma of terrorism. A wise judge in the Bronx County Criminal Court acquitted him and ordered a halt to the proceedings.

Police raided his home on May 21 last year, three days after he had an argument with a mosque committee official over imamate after Asr prayers at the North Bronx Islamic Center. When they did not find him at home, they told his daughter to contact him at 52 police precinct (police station).

He later contacted the police precinct and was informed that there were allegations of terrorist attack against him. On June 1 last year, he went to the police precinct and hired a lawyer. He was arrested after going to the precinct and was produced in court a few hours later. The court granted him bail.

After eight months of trial, the court acquitted him on January 10 and dismissed the case.
