Padma Bridge to be opened next June: Quader

Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Tuesday said Padma Multipurpose Bridge will be opened for vehicular movement in next June.
“Ninety-six percent of bridge’s main works have already been completed and the overall progress of the project is around 90.50 percent,” Quader told journalists after a view-exchange meeting with different bridges division officials here this morning. Bridges Division secretary M Manjur Hossen was also present at the meeting.
The minister said 80 percent construction works of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman tunnel beneath the river Kornophuli in Chattogram also has been completed. “We are working to complete the project by December this year,” he added.
