Outgoing CEC, EC to call on President on Sunday

Outgoing Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda and four other election commissioners will pay a courtesy call on President Abdul Hamid on tomorrow (Sunday) at Bangabhaban. The meeting will be held at 6:30 pm, said sources at the Press Wing of Bangabhaban.
Tenure of the KM Nurul Huda led Election Commission will expire on February 14.
President Abdul Hamid on February 5 formed a six-member search committee, led by Justice Obaidul Hassan, in line with the new law on forming the Election Commission.
The search committee will recommend names to the president for the appointments of the CEC and other commissioners.
The search committee will recommend two names for each of the posts of the CEC and other commissioners, who will oversee the next general election slated for late next year.
The outgoing EC and the previous one faced huge criticisms over their roles in the national elections in 2014 and 2018.
