CEC reiterates holding free, fair elections

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Quazi Habibul Awal on Tuesday reiterated doing their part in holding free and fair elections in the country.
"There is nothing to say afresh about our responsibilities ...and we will have liability to hold free and fair elections through coordination," he said.
The CEC was speaking to the newsmen after paying tributes to the war heroes by placing wreath at the National Memorial here this morning.
The other four election commissioners'- district and session judge (retd) Begum Rashida Sultana, brigadier general (retd) Ahsan Habib Khan, senior secretary (retd) M Alamgir and senior secretary (retd) Anisur Rahman were
present.
After paying homage, they observed one minute silence remembering the supreme sacrifice of the great sons of the soil.
The CEC also signed the visitors' book kept at the National Mausoleum. Responding to a query on making understanding among the political parties, the newly appointed CEC said, "We are fully aware of our works".
He said more meetings will be convened to hold free and fair elections in an integrated way.
