Bangladeshi shot dead 'by BSF' along Kushtia border

Members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) shot a Bangladeshi man dead at Daulatpur border in Kushtia last night. reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Liton Bishwas (35), son of Akbar Ali Bishwas of Daulatpur upazila, reports our Kushtia correspondent quoting Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Daulatpur Police Station, Jabid Hasan.

The body of the deceased has been kept at Hogalbaria Police Station in Nadia district of India, the OC said.
The OC said, 'a call was received from Hogalbaria Police Station. They sent Liton's photo on WhatsApp. The news was delivered to Liton's house in Bilgathua village.'
'No one from Liton's family has come to the police station yet,' the OC added.
Confirming the incident, Pragpur Border Guard Bangladesh Company Commander (Acting), Naik Subedar Amjad, under 147 BGB Battalion, said that a formal letter has been sent to India asking for more information in this regard.
Quoting Liton's family, chairman of Pragpur union, Ashrafuzzaman, said that Liton used to bring goods from India and sell them in Bangladesh. He was returning from India around 9pm last night. He was accompanied by some other Bangladeshis who were in the same line of work.
Ashrafuzzaman claimed that BSF opened fire at them while patrolling the Meghna border under the Hogalbaria Police Station, adjacent to the 151-6(S) border pillar. Others fled to Bangladesh border when Liton was shot.
