US to provide 3cr more vaccines to Bangladesh: FM

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen on Thursday (December 2) said the United States (US) has promised to provide another 2 crore 90 lakh free coronavirus vaccines to Bangladesh, the foreign minister said. AK Abdul Momen.
The foreign minister made the remarks while addressing a silver jubilee celebration of Bangladesh at the American Chamber of Commerce at a hotel in Dhaka on Thursday.
Adviser to the Prime Minister on Private Industry and Investment Salman F Rahman was present on the occasion.
Mentioning that the United States has been providing assistance to Bangladesh since the very beginning of coronavirus infection, he said, “Now we have received a promise of 2 crore 90 lakh more vaccines from them. We thank them for their continuous support.”
He also thanked the United States for standing by Bangladesh since the beginning of the Rohingya crisis.
The foreign minister called on US businessmen to invest in various sectors of the country and said, “The United States is a major investor in Bangladesh. The United States accounts for 20 percent of domestic and foreign investment in Bangladesh.”
He added: “There is a conducive environment for investment. Skilled manpower will also be available in different fields. The United States can take the opportunity.”
Speaking on the occasion, Salman F Rahman, said, “Our economy is very strong now. However, the tax-to-GDP ratio is still the lowest in the world. It should be increased. On the other hand, we have a large stock market, but no bond market. It should be worked on.”
President of American Chamber of Commerce, Bangladesh Syed Ershad Ahmed gave a welcome speech on the occasion. The former president of the organization was present among the guests.
