Father killed by son in city

A man was killed by his son allegedly hit his head with an iron rod in Bashundhara Residential area of the city on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Selim Mia, 70, a businessman. He used to live at an apartment located on the 1st floor of an 8-storey building in the area.
Police said the incident came to light when Selim’s son MM Shiekh Ali (32) surrendered at Bhatara police station at around 2:25 pm saying that he himself killed his father hitting his head with an iron rod.
Quoting Shiekh Ali, officer-in-charge of Bhatara police station Shazidur Rahman Shazid said that the incident occurred at around 5:00 am when his father woke up for Fazar prayers.
Ali said his father did not give money for his mother's treatment that enraged him, said the OC.
Ali entered his father's room at around 5:00 am silently when his father opened the door and hit his head with the iron rod and he died due to hemorrhage, he added.
Police arrested Sheikh Ali.
