Launch capsizes after being hit by cargo in Shitalakkhya

A launch capsized with at least 25 passengers after it was hit by a cargo in the Shitalakkhya river in Narayanganj Sadar upazila on Sunday afternoon.
The incident happened around 2:15pm, said Babu Lal Baidya, deputy director of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) in Narayanganj.
The launch–Afsar Uddin--started for Munshiganj from Narayanganj terminal, said Babu Lal Baidya.
Later, it capsized in front of a bridge on the river, he said.
Narayanganj Fire Service and Civil Defence Deputy Assistant Director Abdullah Al Arefin said they have already received the information and fire fighters are on their way to the spot.
