8 killed in Gopalganj road crush

Eight people were killed and 30 others injured in a triangular collision among a bus, a private car and a motorcycle in Kashiani upazila of the district today.

Vatiapara Highway Police said the fatal accident occurred around 11 am in Milton Bazar area on the Dhaka-Khulna highway in the upazila, reports BSS.

The deceased were identified as Dr Bashudev Kumar Saha, 52, a physician of BIRDEM Hospital, his wife Shibani Saha, 48, their son Shapnil Saha, 19, their driver Azizur Rahman, 44, Firoj Molla, 48, hailed from Dakkhin Fukra village in Kashiani upazila, Firoj Molla's wife Ruma Begum, 40, Anik Babu, 28, and his wife Yasmin Akter, 19. All the ill-fated eight people died on the spot.

The wounded were admitted to Kashiani Upazila Health Complex and Gopalganj General Hospital. Bodies were sent to Gopalganj General Hospital for autopsy. Deputy Commissioner of Gopalganj Shahida Sultana visited the spot and confirmed the incident.
