10 killed in Barishal road crash

At least 10 people were killed and 20 others injured as a bus crashed into a roadside tree at Uzirpur in Barishal.
The injured were sent to Barishal Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
The accident took place around 6:00am on Sunday in Sanuhar area on the Barishal-Dhaka highway of the upazila. The identities of the deceased could not be ascertained immediately.
Uzirpur Police Station OC Ali Arshad said the Bhandaria-bound bus of Jamuna Line Paribahan from Dhaka hit a roadside tree as its driver lost control over the steering.
On information, two units of the fire service and police rushed to the spot and rescued the bodies of eight passengers from the bus.
Besides, 18-20 injured people were sent to Upazila Health Complex and Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.
OC Ali Arshad further said that the body of another person was recovered from the pond near the accident site around 9:15am.
