Six, including five members of a family killed in Rajbari road crush

Six people, including five members of a family, were killed and two others injured in a triangular collision among a speeding truck, a battery-run auto-rickshaw and a private car in Chadpur Rail gate area under Kalukhali upazila of the district this morning.
The deceased were identified as Morium Begum, daughter of Motaleb Mandal, auto-rickshaw driver Nasir Mia, son of Bashir Uddin Mia of Pujore village in Patta union of Pangsha upazila, his wife Machiran Bibi, their grand children Yusuf Ali, Nayan and Shila.
Pangsha Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police Sumon Kumar Saha said the accident occurred when eight members of a family were going to Rajbari boarding on an auto-rickshaw from Puizore. After reaching Chandpur area of Kalukhali, a speedy Kushtia-bound truck heading from Rajbari collided head-on with the auto-rickshaw and a private car in the area, leaving three people dead on the spot and injuring six others.
The injured were taken to Pangsha Upazila Health Complex where three wounded persons succumbed to their injuries, he added. The truck has been seized, but the driver managed to escape from the scene, the police official added.
