A Dhaka court on Wednesday placed Nurul Amin, owner of Amin Manufacturing Company (Henolux Group), his wife and company's director Fatema Amin on two-day remand each in a case lodged for allegedly instigating contractor Gazi Anis to commit suicide.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Syed Mostofa Reza Nur passed the order as police produced the duo before the court and pleaded to place them on seven-day remand in the case.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on July 5 arrested Nurul Amin and Fatema Amin from the capital's Uttara area. Gazi Anis's brother Nazrul Islam lodged a case against Nurul and his wife with Shahbagh Police Station.

Anis, a former president of Kushtia district unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League, set himself on fire on Jatiya Press Club premises on July 4.

Passersby with the help of police rushed him to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. He succumbed to his injury in the early hours of July 5.
