Chittagong University (CU) authorities have permanently expelled two of its students who involved in sexual assault of a female student on campus on July 17.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the university's Health, Residence and Disciplinary Committee at about 5:00pm on Saturday. The CU vice-chancellor Professor Dr Shirin Akhter chaired the meeting.
The expelled students are Mohammad Azim Hossain of the Department of History and Nurul Absar Babu of the Department of Anthropology.
CU Proctor Dr Rabiul Hasan Bhuiyan said two students have been expelled for life after analysing the information, RAB's press briefing, inquiry committee's internal report and senators' remarks. National University will be approached for taking punitive measures against the rest of the accused students. Besides, several recommendations have been made.
