Pranay Kumar Verma appointed as India’s next HC to Bangladesh

Pranay Kumar Verma, presently Ambassador of India to Vietnam, has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh.
Verma, a 1994 batch officer of Indian Foreign Service (IFS), will replace the current high commissioner of India to Bangladesh Vikram Kumar Doraiswami, according to a statement issued today by Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
Verma, who has served as the DG (Director-General) of the East Asia Division at the MEA and DG for external relations at the Department of Atomic Energy, is expected to take up the assignment shortly.
The incumbent high commissioner of India to Bangladesh Vikram Kumar Doraiswami is set to be the new envoy of India to the United Kingdom. The present Indian high commissioner to the UK Gaitri Issar Kumar retired from service on June 30.
However, the Indian government has appointed Sandeep Arya, presently Additional Secretary in the MEA, as the next ambassador of India to Vietnam. He is the 1994 batch officer of Indian Foreign Service (IFS).
