5 killed in same family as BRT project girder falls on car in Uttara

At least Five people including two children were killed and two were injured in a same family after a girder of the under construction Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project fell on a private car in the city's Uttara area on Monday afternoon.
The deceased are newly married Hriday's father Rubel (60), Hriday's mother-in-law Fahima (40), bride Rhea Monir's aunt Jharna (28), Jharna's two children Jannat (6) and Zakaria (2). Only Hridiya and Riya are alive. They have been taken to hospital.
The incident took place in front of Arong in Uttara Jasim Uddin area around 5:15 pm on Monday (15 August).
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Uttara West Police Station Md Mohsin said that in the afternoon, a girder of the under-construction BRT project fell on a private car from a crane. 4 passengers of the private car were killed. 2 people were injured. They were sent to the hospital.
Relatives present at the scene said that Hriday and Riya got married on Friday. They were going from groom's house to bride's house today. Hriday's family is the tenant of Kawla Afil member's house of Dakshinkhan police station. And bride Riya Moni's house is in Asrafuddin Chairman's house area in Khejur Bagan, Ashulia.
