Baton charge on Chhatra League: Barguna police official transferred

Maharram Ali, Additional Police Super of Barguna has been transferred to Barishal following his baton charge on Chhatra League leaders and workers in front of ruling Awami League lawmaker at a National Mourning Day programme in Barguna on Monday (August 15).
Range DIG SM Akhtaruzzaman on Tuesday said, "The decision has been taken taking overall situation into consideration.
He said Barguna incident has come under widespread criticism. We'll investigate the role of the police and what happened at the spot.
One of the rival groups of Barguna Chhatra League praised the role of police, while another group criticised. Police will investigate everything staying impartial on its position, he said.
Earlier, on the occasion of the 47th martyrdom anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Mourning Day, police charged baton on Chhatra League leaders and workers around 12 noon at the main gate of Barguna Shilpakala Academy yesterday.
The leaders and activists of the two groups of Chhatra League clashed. The police arrived at the spot and dispersed them with batons.
