BNP's Senior leader Moazzem Hossain Alal has been sued in Khulna under the Digital Security Act for obscene remarks on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Khulna District Lawyers’ Association President Saiful Islam filed the case against the BNP joint secretary general and 10-12 unnamed others with Sadar police station on Sunday.
The case says Alal made derogatory remarks on Sheikh Hasina and Indian premier Narendra Modi during a discussion on October 1.
The plaintiff alleges that a video of Alal’s speech is also published by the BNP’s YouTube channel, which may create unrest and provoke communal tension. Video clips of his remarks have also been shared widely on Facebook.
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has asked Alal to tender an apology for his remarks.
