Mitford Hospital bedevilled by irregularities and mismanagement

Mitford Hospital, also called Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital, is bedevilled by irregularities and mismanagement.
Patients complain to Dhaka Prokash reporter that they have to suffer various harassment and mismanagement in the Hospital.
Patients and their relatives complain that proper medical care is not available in the hospital. Doctors send to outside clinics for tests.
On Thursday (September 8) when Dhaka Prokash reporter went to report on the ground, the patiens and their relatives complained these.
However, the hospital authorities said that some tests have to be done from outside and some medicines have to be bought from outside.
Asma Begum, who receiving medical treatment at Mitford Hospital told to Dhaka Prokash reporter, Government hospitals are supposed to give medicine, but instead of giving medicine, they ask us to buy it from outside. Only gastric medicine is given by the hospital. Buying medicine costs a lot of money. Then it is better to treated patients in private hospitals.
Afzal Hossain, who receiving medical treatment at Mitford Hospital complained that before seeing the patient, the doctors give various tests, those tests have to be done from outside clinics, due to which extra money is spent and various sufferings have to be suffered.
Patients Labani Akhtar said, 'Mitford Hospital is not like before. Mitford Hospital is another name for suffering. When going to this hospital for treatment, doctor is not available, medicine is not available. Nurses, ward boys are not even accessible to patients.
Director of Mitford Hospital, Brigadier General Kazi Md. Rashid Un Nabi told Dhaka Prokash that the patient pressure is high here. Because of this, some tests are forced out.
In response to a question, Rashid Un Nabi said, "It is not that patients are instructed to undergo tests in a particular institution. The patient can get tested wherever he wants.
A couple named Jainal and Salma said, 'Mobile phones are stolen from the hospital almost every day. A mobile phone was stolen today. They alleged that these mobiles are being stolen due to the negligence of the hospital authorities.
Ansar (PC) officer who is in charge of security at Mitford Hospital told Dhaka Prokash that almost every day there is theft in the hospital. Even with CCTV, theft cannot be prevented.
