Bangladeshi injured in mine explosion on Myanmar border

A Bangladeshi youth named Athwaing Tangchanchangya (22) was injured in a landmine explosion on Myanmar territory across the Tumbru border in Naikshyongchari, Bandarban on Friday (September 16).

The young man's leg was blown off by the mine explosion. The injured youth is the son of Angkyathine Tanchangya of Tumbru Hedman Para.

Ghumdhum Union Parishad Chairman AKM Jahangir Aziz said that the injured youth was rescued by locals and taken to Kutupalong MSF Hospital first. Later admitted to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital. However, the doctors sent the young man to Chittagong Medical College Hospital from Cox's Bazar due to serious injuries.

Thainchapru, a resident of Hedman para, said that a young man named Athwaing Tangchanchangya was blown off his leg by a mine explosion when he went to fetch cattle on the illegal way near Pillar No. 35 of the Myanmar border zero line.

Confirming the matter, Naikhongchari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Salma Ferdous said, the locals were asked not to visit the border area now.
