Foreign minister Dr AK Abdul Momen on Tuesday said Bangladesh wants to see peace and stability in all countries to ensure global food and energy security.

“We want peace and stability in all countries as we are living in an interlinked world,” he told reporters after attending a discussion marking the birth anniversary of Sheikh Russel at the Foreign Ministry here.

The foreign minister said the global supply and financial chains have been distrusted due to Russia-Ukraine conflict while the entire Europe will face further difficulty in this winter due to energy shortage.

Momen said Bangladesh remains prudent in taking precautionary measures on food and energy security to deal with the challenges which may emerge due to the war.

Referring to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's recent directives in this regard, the foreign minister said that the government had taken measures to ensure utmost use of agricultural lands and to check waste of food.

Earlier at the discussion, Momen said Bangladesh does not want to see any such brutal killing like that of Sheikh Russel and would like to ensure a better world for each child.

“We have to ensure rights of children … rights of our future generation,” he said.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam and Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen also spoke.
