After being closed for 36 hours, bus services have resumed in Bagerhat from 5 pm on Saturday (October 22).

All long distance and local routes depart from Bagerhat Central Bus Terminal from 5 PM onwards.

Bagerhat Inter-District Bus-Minibus Owners Association and Bagerhat Motor Sramik Union jointly stopped all bus movement from 6 am on Friday (October 21) to demand stoppage of illegal traffic on the highway. Common people have suffered due to the strike.

However, BNP says that the government called for a strike to stop the rally in Khulna.

Rezaur Rahman Montu, president of Bagerhat District Labor League, said that a transport strike was called from 6 am on Friday morning by the Owner Sramik Oikya Parishad to protest against the movement of three-wheeled vehicles on the highway.

He said BNP is lying that this bus strike has been called on the occasion of BNP's rally in Khulna. The organizational condition of BNP in Bagerhat is not good enough to prevent them from going on strike, he added.

Talukdar Abdul Baki, general secretary of Bagerhat Inter-District Bus Owners Association, said that we have called off the strike on the assurance of the administration.

He said Public transport on all routes is normal from Bagerhat Central Bus Stand.
