A hybrid lecture event by Mitsuru IZUMO held

A Hybrid Lecture Event by Mitsuru IZUMO, Founder and President of Euglena Co., Ltd on ‘Solving malnutrition, poverty problems and Combat climate change by Euglena’s technology’, was jointly organized by the Biotechnology Program, Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, BRAC University and the Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh on Sunday (13 November).
In his lecture IZUMO emphasized the potential and versatility of ‘Euglena’- microalgae. He introduced his company’s activity such as nutrition improvement programs in Bangladesh by providing cookies which contains nutrient-rich Euglena to children under ‘Euglena GENKI Program’ and also renewable fuel producing project by using Euglena and advanced technologies.
He stressed that importance of sustainability and his company’s eco-fuel would accelerate de-carbonization in Japan and the world. They are training local farmers by their agricultural techniques for creating job and income in this country. He also encouraged attended university students to start own business as a venture company.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Vincent Chang of BRAC University welcomed the lecturer and distinguished guests. In his remarks he mentioned that technology was the key factor for economic growth in any country.
He hoped that the lecture would enhance more opportunity to exchange of knowledge and sharing experiences in the field of advanced technology to contribute in the economic growth in Bangladesh.
Dr. Munima Haque, Biotechnology Program Director of the University also made opening remarks and Prof. Yusuf Haider, Chairperson, MNS of the University made closing remarks.
Governmental officers, Academics, UN Agencies, Companies, and students were present among the participants.
