Govt extends tenure of Foreign Secretary

The government has extended the tenure of Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen by two more years under a contractual appointment effective from December 6, 2022 or from the date of his joining.
The Public Administration Ministry issued a gazette notification today regarding his contractual appointment as Senior Secretary of the government.
Masud succeeded Md Shahidul Haque in 2019, after returning to the headquarters serving as Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations (UN) in New York.
Masud also served as Ambassador of Bangladesh to Italy and Japan.
Masud is a career foreign service officer belonging to the 1985 batch of Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS). During his distinguished diplomatic career, Masud served in stations like New York, Islamabad, New Delhi and Kathmandu in various capacities. Masud obtained his MA in International Relations from Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University, Boston, USA.
He also obtained his Honors and Masters degree in Economics with distinction from the University of Dhaka.
