Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday asked the authorities concerned not to design and implement any development project, harming nature and ecology.

She made the directive while presiding over a meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) held at the NEC conference room here in the city.

Briefing the reporters, Planning Minister MA Mannan said the directive came while clearing a Tk 2,580-crore Coastal Town Climate Resilient Project in the meeting.

“We’re implementing many projects. But be careful no damage is done to nature,” the PM was quoted as saying.

About agricultural production, she stressed not only on raising food production amid the current global situation, but also for ensuring quality food grains and nutrition enriched foods.

Hasina asked the concerned ministries to pay attention to the stockpile of food grains in godowns and preserve the food items properly using higher technology.

The PM also asked the authorities to complete the projects in time to avoid frequent revision.
