Case filed against 800 BNP leaders, activists in Khulna over 'attacking police'

A case has been filed against BNP leaders and activists in Khulna "for attacking police and obstructing government work", police said.
Ajit Kumar Das, sub-inspector at Khulna Sadar Police Station, filed the case in connection with the clash between BNP men and police on Saturday during a sit-in programme in front of the party office at Khulna’s KD Ghosh Road to protest the rising gas, electricity, and food prices. Police fired tear shells and rubber bullets during the clash, reports UNB.
SI Ajit said that a case has been filed against 800 leaders and activists, naming 59 people including its BNP's Central Information Affairs Secretary Azizul Bari Helal, Khulna district Unit President Amir Ejaz Khan and General Secretary Monirul Hasan Bappi for attacking police vehicles and obstructing government work on Saturday.
Eight people have been arrested in connection with the case, he said.
Meanwhile, BNP leaders claimed that 15-20 leaders and activists were injured during the clash on Saturday after the police fired tear gas and rubber bullets.
