Banga Bazar fire: 300 sued for attacking police

A case has been filed against 250-300 anonymous people on charges of attacking and obstructing the police during the extinguishing of fire at Dhaka's Banga Bazar market.
Police filed the case with the Bangshal police station in the capital on Thursday (April 6).
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Lalbagh Division Deputy Commissioner (DC) Zafar Hossain confirmed this to the media.
He said the Fire Service headquarters and members were attacked while extinguishing the fire at Bangabazar. When police tried to stop them, they were also attacked. Those involved in the attack will be identified and legal action will be taken.
Meanwhile, the Fire Service is planning to file a separate case in connection with the obstruction of work, assault on members and vandalism at the headquarters during the fire.
Brigadier General Md. Main Uddin, director general (DG) of Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence, said he will file the case with Bangshal police station also.
Besides, a general diary (GD) has been made by the police with the Shahbag Police Station in connection with the fire incident.
