Women have outnumbered men for the first time in Bangladesh's census history.

According to the final report of Population and Housing Census-2022, there are currently about 99 males against every 100 females.

This information was given at the BBS press conference at the Planning Commission's NEC conference room on Sunday (April 9).

Planning Minister MA Mannan, State Minister for Planning Dr. Shamsul Alam, Statistics and Information Management Secretary Dr. Shahnaz Arefin and others were present at this time.

Project director Dildar Hossain said that the number of women is more than men in the 2022 census. Total females are 50.43 percent and males are 49.51 percent. Among them, 12 thousand 629 people are living as transgenders.

The final population of the country in Census 2022 is 16 crore 98 lakh, which is initial calculation was 16 crore 52 lakh.

As of Census 2022, urban population is 31.66 percent and rural population is 68.34 percent.
