US concerned over intimidate of civil society in Bangladesh

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken expressed concern about violence and intimidation against the media and civil society, including Digital Security Act.
The US Foreign Minister expressed such concern during a meeting with Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen on Monday (10 April) local time in Washington DC, USA.

The press release said, US Chief Deputy Spokesperson Vedanta Patel emphasized that free and fair elections and respect for human rights are important in Bangladesh.
During the meeting, the US Secretary of State thanked Bangladesh for hosting Rohingya refugees and highlighted nearly $2.1 billion in US humanitarian aid since 2017, including $23.8 million in new aid for World Food, Vedanta Patel said.
During the meeting, the US Secretary of State reiterated the US commitment to promote inclusive economic growth, free and fair elections, human and labor rights and freedom of expression in Bangladesh, said Vedant Patel.
