PM inaugurates 50 more model mosques Monday

Fifty more model mosques and Islamic cultural centres under fourth phase will be inaugurated tomorrow, said an official release here today.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to join the model mosque's inauguration ceremony virtually from her official Ganobhaban residence at 10 am on Monday.
The programme will be chaired by State Minister for Religious Affairs Md Faridul Haque Khan, the release added.
In 2017, the government has taken a project worth of Taka 9,435 crore for constructing Islamic Cultural Center and Model Mosque in every district and upazila of the country.
Mentionable, the tenure of the second revised project to set up 564 model mosques and Islamic cultural centres in every district and upazila has valid till June 2024.
So far, a total of 150 model mosques and Islamic cultural centres -- 50 completed by December 7, 2021 in the first phase, 50 by January 16, 2023 in the second phase and 50 by March 16, 2023 in the third phase-- have already been inaugurated in the country.
