4 killed in bus-truck collision on Dhaka-Mawa expressway

Four people were killed and 19 others injured after a bus collided with a truck on the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Expressway ((Dhaka-Mawa-Bhanga Expressway) in Sholghar area under Sreenagar upazila of the district today.
The deceased were identified as Hajera Khatun, 50, resident of Shakhipur area in Shariatpur district and Md. Saiful, 30, resident of the same area, Arif Kazi, 32, resident of Naria upazila in Shariatpur district and an unidentified woman, 25.
The accident occurred when a Shariatpur-bound passenger bus of "Padma Travels" hit a truck on the expressway in front of the Bhuichitra graveyard of Shologhar area under Sreenagar upazila, leaving two passengers of the bus died on the spot and 21 others were injured, officer-in-charge (OC) of Hansara Highway Police Station Molla Zakir Hossain said.
The injured were admitted to Sreenagar upazila Health Complex, where two people succumbed to their injuries, he said.
Later, 13 of them have been sent to Dhaka Medical and Hospital for better treatment.
Superintendent of Police Mahfuzur Rahman Al Mamun said that the accident occurred because the truck was unfit and the bus was high speeding.
Additional DIG of Highway Police Farida Yasmin said necessary action will be taken after finding out the cause of the accident.
