Three killed in Tangail road crush

Three people, including a woman and her daughter, were killed and five others injured in a head-on collision between an auto-rickshaw and a pickup van at Modhupur in Tangail on Friday morning. Report BSS.
The deceased were identified as Sharmin, 30, hailed from Jamalpur district, her daughter Shohagi, 03, and Russel, 21, an inhabitant of Sherpur district.
Officer-in-Charge of Modhupur Thana Tariq Kamal said the accident occurred at around 7am in Kaitkai area on Modhupur-Jamalpur Highway, leaving Shohagi and Russel dead on the spot. Critically injured Sharmin succumbed to her injuries at Modhupur Upazila Health Complex.
Police seized the pickup van and the auto rickshaw from the spot.
In another accident, the driver and helper of a covered van were killed in
a head-on collision between the covered van and a passenger bus this noon at Telipara on Gorai-Sakhipur Road here.
The deceased were identified as driver Suroj Mia, 30, a resident of Chandpur district and helper Golam Rabbani, 30, hailed from Rajshahi district. Ten other bus passengers were injured in the accident, said Bashtoil police camp sources.
