6 detained over rape of 2 Garo girls in Mymensingh

Law enforcers detained six people, including the prime accused of a case filed over the rape of two girls from the Garo community in Haluaghat upazila of Mymensingh on December 27.
Of arrestees, members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Solaiman Hossain Riad (22), the prime accused of the rape case.
Three of them--Sharif, Mizan and Rokon--were arrested from Gazipur's Sreepur upazila while Mia Hossain and Abdul Hamid were arrested from Mymensingh's Tarakanda and Haluaghat upazila respectively, he added.
Shafiqul Islam, an inspector (DB) of Mymensingh district police, said they arrested five accused from different areas.
The two girls were raped by a gang of youths when they were returning home from a wedding party.
After three days of the incident, one of the victims' father filed the case with Haluaghat Police Station accusing 10 youths.
