Court directs to investigate allegation of Murad`s wife

A Dhaka court on Sunday allowed police to investigate a general diary (GD) filed against former state minister for information and broadcasting Murad Hassan, for allegedly torturing and abusing his wife Dr Jahanara.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mamunur Rashid passed the order following an application of the investigation officer of the GD, according to court sources.
Earlier, Dr Jahanara lodged the GD at Dhanmondi Police Station on January 6, alleging that her husband had been torturing her physically and mentally.
"He has been using abusive language on me and our children, and also threatened to kill me. Around 2:45pm (that day), when he was about to beat me up again, I called 999," she mentioned in the GD.
