8 die of Covid-19, fresh cases 5,222 in 24 hours

A total of 5,222 new infections were recorded and eight people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8:00 am Monday, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The current positivity rate is 17.82 percent while the total positivity rate stood at 13.64 percent.
The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 28,144 and the mortality rate stands at 1.74 percent. Meanwhile, the total number of cases rose to 16,17,711 added the release.
A total of 29,305 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours. At least 293 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.
The total number of recoveries now stands at 15,52,893 and the recovery rate at 95.99 percent.
The news release added that, of the eight deceased, five were male and three were female and they were aged between 41-80 years old.
