10 die of Covid-19, fresh cases 8,407 in 24 hours

At least 8,407 new infections were recorded and 10 people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8:00am on Tuesday, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The current positivity rate is 23.98 percent while the total positivity rate stood at 13.69 percent.
The news release added that the total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 28,164 and the mortality rate stands at 1.72 percent. Meanwhile, the total number of cases rose to 16,32,794.
A total of 35,054 samples were tested across the country in the 24 hours.
At least 475 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.
The total number of recoveries now stands at 15,53,795 and the recovery rate at 95.16 percent, added the release.
It added that, of the 10 deceased, eight were male and two female and they were aged between 51-90 years old.
