Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Monday said the BNP is destroying the spirit of the Liberation War, Bangla and Bangalee as he paid rich tributes to the language martyrs.
“The government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working to establish the dignity of Bangla language in the globe as the BNP is ruining the spirit of Bangla, Bangalee and the Liberation War,” he said.
The minister told the newsmen after paying homage to the language martyrs with Awami League leaders by placing wreath at the Central Shaheed Minar here on the occasion of Amar Ekushey and the International Mother Language Day.
Earlier, Hasan along with the AL leaders paid glowing tributes to the martyrs of the historic Language Movement at Azimpur graveyard in the capital and prayed for eternal peace of their departed souls.
Replying to a query, the information minister said all the achievements of the country and its people came under the leadership of Awami League.
On the other hand, BNP is doing politics with anti-liberation forces and destroying the spirit of the Liberation War, said Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary. He said BNP and Begum Khaleda Zia don’t cherish the spirit of the Bangalee.
The minister urged all to remain alert against those who are patronising the anti-liberation forces and hatching conspiracy against the country and its development and progress.
About initiatives of establishing Bangla as one of the United Nation (UN)’s official languages, he said “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina declared that our aim is to establish Bangla as one of the official languages of the UN. And we are working in this regard”.
