32 BCL leaders, workers sued by JCD leader

Dhaka University (DU) Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leader Mansura Alam has filed a case against 32 leaders and workers of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) including central vice-president Tilottoma Sikder in connection with clashes at the High Court area in the capital on May 26.

The plaintiff has brought charges of physical assault, attempt to murder, and steal of mobile phones and cash from her.

Mansura Alam, a student of Law and member of the DU JCD Convening Committee, filed the case at Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Shanta Islam Mallick's court on Sunday (May 29).

Accepting the confession of the plaintiff, the court directed the Shahbagh police to submit a report by June 26 next after investigating the charges.

BCL central committee's assistant secretary Rashed Ferdous Akash, organising secretary Md Nazim Uddin, Shamsunnahar Hall JCD president Khadiza Akter Urmi, Dhaka College BCL assistant secretary Amanullah Aman, environmental affairs secretary Shamim Parvez, Mass Education secretary Abdullah Hel Bari, Private University Affairs secretary Al Amin Rahman, organising secretary Md Nazimuddin and Tilottoma Sikder, were made accused among others in the case.

On Sunday (May 22) evening, BCL leaders and workers physically assaulted Mansura Alam and JCD Zahurul Huque Hall Unit of JCD Atique Morshed on the western side outside the TSC building, the plaintiff alleged.

Mansura became the victim of physical assault again when clashes broke out between the JCD and BCL on the DU campus on Sunday (May 22).
